How much will my project cost?

Please refer to my rates to see how I charge for my services and contact me for a quote.

Larger and more complex web sites will naturally take longer and cost more to create. If we are working together on a joint venture, I could even absorb the costs in return for a cut of the sales.

How long will my project take to complete?

I will set an estimated timetable for the completion of your project during our discussions and we shall sign a contract with a set deadline.

I will honour my word and complete your project before our agreed deadline but I cannot be held responsible if there are delays on your side. Common delays are usually include changes to your project requirements, late replies and late content submissions to me.

What other costs will there be?

  • Web domain – USD $9.99 or less per year
  • Web hosting – Approximately USD $10 or more per month or free if host your web site for you
  • Logo designing – Approximately USD $50 or more

I cannot provide you with your web domain because I believe you should own your own web domain. You will need to purchase a web domain from a domain registrar.

Please refer to my web domains blog category to learn more about web domains. I get my web domains from Netfirms.com and NameCheap.com.

I can provide you free web hosting from my BlueWho.com reseller web hosting account if your web site is not expecting a lot of traffic. This offer is only available to my clients and not open to the public.

Please refer to my web hosting blog category to learn more about web hosting. I get my web hosting from PowerVPS.com and BlueWho.com.

I am not an illustrator and I cannot create fancy logos for you. If you need logos, icons and other custom made illustrations, we will need to hire an illustrator at your cost.

Why do you need to create wireframes before creating designs in Photoshop?

I understand that some web designers create mulitple “mock ups” of your web site in Photoshop and send you a couple of picture files to choose your favourite design of the lot.

Although this seems like a great service to have, it is also very time consuming for me and a waste of effort if you decide not to hire me. Therefore, I do not create free “mock ups” of prototypes of your web site in Photoshop as a sales pitch to entice you to hire me because it is not very productive for me to do so.

Sketching on paper with a pen, pencil and ruler takes less time and effort. It is so easy to do you can also create informal sketches of your web site. I only proceed to design in Photoshop after I have a very clear picture of what I need to design by referring to the wireframes.

The wireframes are my web design blueprints. My Photoshop designs are my web development blueprints. For more information, please refer to my work process.

If you have seen my portfolio and like what I have created, then I am the man for you. If not, you will have to look elsewhere. It is as simple as that.

Do I get unlimited revisions?

The short answer is no. Please refer to my sample contract to find out how many revisions you can make at each stage of your project’s development.

Why can’t you simply create a web site for me and we shall see where we can go from there?

I have developed an efficient way of creating web sites that saves me time and effort. It creates a clear structure on how I work and what you can expect from me.

If I allow my clients to do whatever they want with me, that would mean I do not have a systematic way of doing things and I am disorganised. Conversely, if I do whatever I feel like doing, whenever I feel like doing, how would that make you feel?

I tend to avoid clients who let me “run free” and create a web site without receiving little or any of their input. People like that do not seem to have a clear vision for their web site and they are too lazy to even think about it. It would be hell for me to keep on tweaking their web site to make them happy because they never bothered to sit down and think about what they want.

Could you give me a discount or more free stuff?

This is something that I get in Singapore very frequently. I have no idea why Singaporeans tend to do this a lot but I find it very annoying and disrespectful. Sometimes we can even have a contract and they still want more work done beyond the scope of the original specifications of the project.

As I have proclaimed on my home page that “I’m a no B.S. kind of guy”, this to me is B.S. and I won’t stand for it. I don’t like to feel like I have been “squeezed dry” and neither am I thinking of ripping you off. Let’s respect each other and treat each other the way we want to be treated. Fair enough?

If you’re thinking of contacting me and make requests like:

  • “I’m a student, pensioner or whatever and I can’t afford your rates. I can only afford $X for your services.”
  • “I see people on elance.com doing the same thing as you for $X. Could you give me a discount?”
  • “I am friends with your pal or relative. Come on, give me discount!”

Sorry but I can’t do it. I do sometimes offer discounts on a case by case basis but not like the scenarios above.
