I think I have to be a bit vague about the keyword sources of the Maverick Keyword Researcher. I have made a lot of improvements to it in the past few weeks and avoided a lot of trademarked terms.

The keyword research tools of the Maverick Keyword Researcher come in 3 general categories. The first bunch of tools are for generating ideas for a niche/topic. The second group of tools are for getting as many alternative keywords of a niche. The last group is for analyzing the real-world statistics of the keywords.

Saved Searches

Every keyword search you make will be automatically saved into text files. I am working on a project module that assigns keywords to a project. The screen shots above do not have that at the moment. I added a lot jquery effects to make the interface more user-friendly. You may check out the list of keywords, download the keyword files and mass delete them with a few clicks of the mouse. The table design was inspired by WordPress.

Non-Google Search Engines

There are a lot of top searches and buzz lists from some non-Google search engines. I won’t reveal these search engines because I don’t want to receive another letter from them. The keywords from this tool generates the most popular keywords that are being searched on the internet through non-Google search engines.

Google AdWords Keyword Suggestions

Did you know that you get a different set of keywords if you select a different country from the Google AdWords Tool? That was what I discovered. I created a custom tool to import as many keywords from Google AdWords by selecting multiple countries. You may select up to 233 countries but it would take a long time. Most of the keywords are repeated but you may find a couple of gems in there. Usually, I simply click on the “popular countries” link to get keywords from the most popular countries.

You need to be gentle with this tool because Google does not like it when you use their free tools too frequently. I created a random search timer that spaces out the import queries every 15 to 30 seconds.

Keywords Analyzer Review

I am writing this short review of this old keyword research software as a series of keyword software reviews. Most of these keyword research software are crappy because they do not provide you with accurate statistics from Google or they do not give you all the data you want.

You need a Google AdWords account to retrieve Google.com’s statistics. You would assume that the information you get from the software would be similar to what you would get if you check it out at Google AdWords, right? Unfortunately, there is a bug with Keywords Analyzer 7.68, which is the latest version at the time of this post. This software has been around for quite a few years and it is disappointing that it still has bugs like this.

For this example, I did a search on the keyword “acuvue”, in quotes for Google’s phrase matching. Keywords Analyzer gave me 550000 searches and 791000 search results. This made the KEI extremely high. There is something seriously wrong here.

I did a check for the keyword at the Google AdWords keyword tool. What I found was the monthly search count for the phrase match of “acuvue” was only 301000. Keywords Analyzer‘s stats must be wrong. I sent a support ticket to the author of the software he said, “At this point KA does not keep track where the data was downloaded so it doesn”t know whether it needs to multiply by 30 or not”.

Wow! You don’t know where the data was downloaded from? I thought I selected Google and entered my Google AdWords account information.

Another problem with this software is it does not display the CPC prices of the keywords in the main window. You need to click on another button to get the CPC prices of the keywords. You cannot compare and sort the keywords by CPC and that is frustrating for me.

Keywords Analyzer seems like a great software if you do some PPC arbitrage. You may scan for the CPC prices from some PPC search engines to find potential keywords to bid on. Other than Google.com, you may use a few other keyword sources for your searches.

Conclusion

Save your money. There should be better keyword research software.

The Best Search Arbitrage Traffic Sources

SearchAnyway.com’s blog is a really good place to find out more about PPC arbitrage. Too many people think of only Google AdSense arbitrage when Google is clearly making it hard for this to work on their search engine. Some people are making a good living from SearchAnyway and it could be worth a look because they are more transparent than Google – At least we know how much they plan to pay us per click unlike Google.

Here’s a video of Sanjay, who works for SearchAnyway, on the best sources of PPC arbitrage traffic.

If you’re too busy to watch the clip, the “1st-tier PPC search engines” are Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing, MSN adCenter, Ask and AOL. They hate the “2nd-tier search engines” and warn against using them or else they might ban your account.

PPC Search Arbitrage with SearchAnyway

I first learnt about SearchAnyway after reading Google Payload, which is a rubbish eBook if you ask me. I won’t bother with the details of the eBook but most of the tips in the eBook will most likely get you banned with SearchAnyway.

SearchAnyway does not allow traffic from some PPC search engines like:

Enhance
Findology
GoClick
Looksmart
Searchfeed

Google Payload recommends using some of these PPC search engines, which is clearly against SearchAnyway’s recommendations. SearchAnyway prefers traffic from 1st-tier PPC search engines, which probably means they like Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing and MSN adCenter.

Here’s the official proof straight from SearchAnyway’s publisher screen:

Notice the bold text “Any Affiliate who can send us high-quality 1st-Tier arbitrage traffic for 1 month will have a rev-share increase of 5%, and will receive higher bids from our premium feed“.

The default revenue share is 60% of the click value of their ads. What is cool about SearchAnyway is you can find out the click value of your desired keywords. It’s right on their home page at the “Bid Checker” section. This makes PPC arbitrage so much easier than Google AdSense because with Google, you can’t really know how much Google is going to pay you until you see the actual payouts in your account. Furthermore, Google really hates people this PPC arbitrage thing, therefore it would be very difficult to do it with Google AdWords and Google AdSense.

SearchAnyway has a lot of search engine templates. I am sure you have stumbled upon web sites like these. This is what SearchAnyway specializes in and they have made it easy for their publishers with a lot of nice templates.

I have not tested SearchAnyway yet so I can’t say how good it is for me. I will test it out and let you guys know how it goes.

Google AdWords Monthly & Yearly Search Counts

Finally! Google has decided to reveal the monthly and yearly searches for every keyword phrase searched on Google.com. I hope there is an API for this so that all the keyword software makers can integrate this into their software as soon as possible.

According to Google AdWords Help Center:

The Approx Search Volume [Previous Month] column shows search volume statistics for the last calendar month. The Approx Avg Search Volume column shows average monthly search volume over a recent 12-month period.

Since Yahoo’s Overture keyword tool is officially dead, this tool is the next best thing at the moment. Google should have done this earlier.
