Social Media Daily – Unstoppable Social Media and Web 2.0 Traffic Guide
I just downloaded and read Social Media Daily by Michelle MacPherson. I wish I had something like this earlier because it took me hours to scour the internet for all the possible web sites to submit my blog posts to.
In the guide, you’ll find links to:
- Social news sites (plime, digg etc)
- Social media sites (Youtube etc)
- Social bookmarking sites (Delicious, Spurl etc)
- Social networking sites (MySpace, Friendster etc)
- Classified sites (USFreeads, craigslist)
- Collaborative research sites
- Article directories
Even though the guide is only 25 pages long, it is jam packed with practical information and neat checklists to get you started. The initial stage of registering to these sites is going to take you at least a couple of days. Furthermore, you’ll have to familiarize yourself with the intricacies of each web site. That will add even more time to your learning curve.
I have personally used a lot of these sites and I have jotted down notes regarding each web site. If you plan to use social web sites to bring in traffic, I suggest you do the same too to find out which sites are worth using and which ones are not according to your needs.
If you have read my blog post on quality over quantity, you will know that I am not a big believer in dropping links in hundreds of places for the sake of gaining back links. However, I do post to all the possible sites I can find and monitor my web site traffic logs to see where the traffic is really coming from. Not all sites will bring you a substantial amount of traffic. With limited time on your hands, it would be better to post to the more effective sites than to dump links everywhere.
I truly believe that if you follow the Social Media Daily guide all the way, you should receive a lot of traffic to your web site. The challenge for you is to spend a few hours of your precious time to post 1 link at a time to hundreds of places.
