Keyword Elite Review

Keyword Elite

It took me a long time to get my Keyword Elite program to work the way I needed it to work because there quite a few bugs in the initial release of the software. Thanks to the great team led my Brad Callen, most of the bugs have been fixed and many new features that the Keyword Elite forum members suggested have been implemented.

The Best Feature of Keyword Elite?

In my opinion, the best feature is the Google AdWords spying tool (Project 5). I don’t think there is anything like this in other keyword research software. From now on, I will let the top Google AdWords advertisers do all the dirty work of finding the best keywords and I will simply copy them for my own campaigns.

The way this keyword spying tool works is by comparing your list of keywords with a list of Google AdWords campaign URLs. How I wish I could simply see every single keyword my competitor is bidding on without doing any keyword research? Sorry, I don’t think that can be done at the moment!
For example you want to look for all the keywords XYZ.com is bidding on. You do this by compiling a list of keywords and submit XYZ.com to Keyword Elite. Keyword Elite does a search for every keyword in your list to see if XYZ.com appears for that keyword.

Basically, Keyword Elite automates the manual Google searches for you. You can do this yourself if you have lots of time to burn. I don’t have a lot of free time to do tens of thousands of manual searches so I use Keyword Elite to do the searching for me.

Building A Huge Keyword List

To get the most out of this spying tool, you need a huge keyword list. If you can, get WordTracker and Keyword Discovery in addition to all the other options Keyword Elite provides. I noticed that Ask.com and the “Meta tag” keyword research options return a huge pile of keywords. It would be better if you seperate your keyword research projects into chunks. I select one option at a time and combine the keywords from all sources into one huge text file and remove all duplicates. I end up with 2 sets of keywords. One for misspellings and one for the other sources of keywords.

I feel the keyword list building feature can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. It’s great to be able to build a huge keyword list but it would mean nothing if you do not know how to use it to make money. I use these keywords mainly for Google AdWords competitor spying and I use the keywords my target competitor is using as my “approved” list of keywords. That’s how I sort my keywords initially.

I can easily generate a keyword list of over 20000 keywords with Keyword Elite. I like the way Keyword Elite grabs keywords from multiple sources from one interface. I do not need to go back and forth within the same program. I simply enter one base keyword and let the software grab all the related keywords from Google, Yahoo, Overture, Google AdWords, Ask.com, and other web sites.

Downside of Keyword Elite

One of my biggest complaints is speed. I understand that Keyword Elite gets keywords from many sources and it generates a huge list of keywords but it can take me anywhere from a few hours to a few days to get my list of keywords and spy on my competitors.

There isn’t anyway to to find out who are the top Google AdWords advertisers for my target keyword. I use Keywords Analyzer to sniff out the advertisers who have the most “campaign URLs” for my list of keywords. This can take days to complete the long and tedious process of finding out the exact landing page URL of my keyword list.

The reason why I couldn’t write my review earlier was because my keyword research took me almost one week to complete. I had to leave one of my spare computers on 24/7 to complete the keyword research and competitor spying processes.

As much as I like the Google AdWords spying tool, I find the scheduling tool pretty confusing. You shouldn’t set the daily searches to more than once a day because it might not complete it’s first search before going to the second search and that will delay your search results. Another thing is, you shouldn’t try to add too many competitor URLs because it might crash Keyword Elite. The chances of you getting a keyword list of 20000 or more is very possible when you use Keyword Elite. Add that list of the spying tool and you will have to wait almost a day or more to complete one run of the search.

Conclusion

Even though there are some slight imperfections, I still highly recommend Keyword Elite. It has raised the bar of all keyword research software out there and I hope others catch up to match or surpass Keyword Elite in the near future. But for now, Keyword Elite is still the undisputed king of all keyword research software in my opinion.

After coming across Brad Callen’s free lesson page and downloading the program he recommended on that page – my computer was so infected with popups and spyware, that I would NEVER download anything that has his name on the page, let alone buy something! Ugh!
